There is a new Meetup group in Rochester that you might be interested in: Clean Up the Hiking Trails.

"The group is for those who would like to help clean up trash from hiking trails in the area, starting with the Genesee Riverway Trail. During the winter we'll be meeting fairly early (9 or 9:30?) on Saturday or Sunday mornings and working on the trails for about 90 minutes. When the days get longer we may also start meeting on weekday nights."

Their first clean-up is scheduled for 2/2 in Seneca Park.
