Trolley Trail3.5-miles one way (not all open), mostly flat June 2008 |
This footpath is on the bed of the Rochester and Eastern Interurban trolley. It has a surface of small cinder, dirt and grass. It currently consists of three sections, yet to be fully connected. Each has its own personality.
The trolley trail (temporarily) begins at the bed of the Lehigh Trail at the north side of Lehigh Crossing Park. It is primarily through woods, and connects with the park trails. It is missing a bridge across Irondequoit Creek, but there is a temporary detour over the “Beaver Bridge” and along the Auburn Trail, eastbound. It has a dirt and grass surface, 2- to 3-feet wide.
Crosses Victor Mendon Rd (251)
Here the Trolley footpath parallels the multi use Auburn Trail. There are several cross links between them. For a while, the Seneca Trail joins the Trolley. This section ends at the Seneca just where it meets the Auburn. It has a dirt and grass surface, 2- to 3-feet wide.
Typical Trolley Trail parallel with Auburn Trail
In this gap in the Trolley Trail, use the Auburn Trail, Rawson RD., and School St.
Here the Village of Victor has improved the trail to hard black top, 8-feet wide. It crosses both Great Brook and the rail road track.
Again this is grass surface, some woods, some open sections, and some meadow. For a while, it parallels Great Brook. It is 3- to 6-feet wide. There can be some puddling after wet weather. Brace Rd. Park is yet to be developed. There is a branch trail with an entrance from East St. Summer '07 – '09: this park is under development and the trail in it is closed.
This is a short spur entrance trail. It is closed for park construction. See above.
We expect to extend the Trolley Trail north from the Lehigh Trail to Main St. Fishers and its motels and restaurants. Some of this will be on sidewalks. We expect the Irondequoit Creek bridge in Lehigh Crossing Park will be built. We hope ultimately have the missing link west of the Village opened. Also, at the east end, a connection from Brace Rd. Park back to the Auburn Trail.
